Hi welcome

February 22nd 2008 00:12
I am a nervous wreck writing this for the first time: what if someone reads it? is the whole world watching/reading/checking it out? A shift worker in the UK? An Icelandic housewife on a break? nurses on night-shift in Mexico? Hi, welcome to my 'blog'. Diana by name and nature (horsewoman, huntress of man) i am a write-a-holic who has spent the past few years clogging up my friends emails with long tortuous missives until they collectively screamed at me (on-line of course) to get the hell away and start a blog or whatever cos they don't have time to read my stories no matter how interesting. And they certainly don't respond properly or interestingly to my ramblings. Usually after my 200 words account of my weekend, I get something like, 'great you had a good time. cheers'. so frustrating. So. Here I am.

Musician by trade. Woodwind and piano teacher. mother of 3. Closet writer. owner of border collie puppy, kimbereleybootsnall. owner'rider of quarab pali, rescued as a foal 22 years ago and looked after ever since. farming family. suburban backyard filled with 11 guinea-pigs and 4 chooks. what else can I tell you?
I agree fervently with Virginia Woolf that tis impossible for a woman to write when she is lumbered with family and bills. I too want a private income.

gotta go. puppy is mauling the top of the cage of girl gp's.

Hi Diana, welcome to Orble. So far you've got at least one reader - a gal from Melbourne.

See you around.

wow; a comment! this is super exciting. I get back from shopping with my cranky spoilt kids and while cooking check my page and.....wow! What is it with these 'blogs'? I get email listing statistics on the 'popularity' vote of blogs-tis a weird concept, don't you think? I am soooo gonna beat all those bloggers who have nothing better to do than tap away at their thoughts and so garner popularity. Mmmn, I can smell next doors' dinner burning too....

And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
Going to the library had started as a type of therapy for tam, where she sat at the top floor with the other try-hards who were studying or something and tapped away at her lap-top. A fabulous view of the city stretched away before her and her thoughts could range on a variety of topics without interruption.

Its a lot easier to write when all you have to worry about is kids.

Try working full time, going to school, cooking and cleaning yourself, looking after pets, your girlfriend/boyfriend and trying to have a social life while you're still young- and writing like most of us.

Im in writing school, all I hear is house wives complain, while their husband pays their bills so they can have their own 'hobby'.

Dont mean to get mean.
Its just I hear it all day, everyday. LOL
I refuse to feel sorry for Virginia Woolf or yourself.

Hi 'Jarrah', thanks for commenting on my blog. LOL to you too. Um, I should tell you tho that far from being a 'bored housewife sitting at home whinging while my husband pays the bills', etc I actually work full time as a music teacher, have three children under 12 and play professionally two nights a week. I also look after the family farm on weekends, mustering, droving, shearing and crutching and I have supported my husband through unemployment and depression-related illness for the past five years. I write in my 'spare' time which is usually late at night or at 5am in the morning. sorry to get mean, Have you ever read Virginia Woolf? Nothing to feel sorry for there I can assure you. LOL as you say. diana

Crumbs. Is this a misery contest? Try looking after a kid or a partner or parent with a disability. Forget writing. Forget reading! Forget school, hobbies, hubbies, hope. Forget boredom. Forget work. Now multiply x rest-of-life.

Enjoy every moment of life as it is. Tomorrow could be so much worse.
