Final Results from the M3DE

Nail-biting sessions today at the M3DE with show-jumping determining some Olympic competitors.
By now you have probably seen on the news some highlights from this weekends extravaganza of horsemanship at Werribee.
In the Junior and One Star events we watched some horses demolish jumps, knock off pole after pole or refuse. In an ironic twist of fate, two big-name grand-children of the horse world had disasters in the arena.
Fiona Roycroft demolished one jump then put her horses hoof through another and retired.
Danielle Cleland had a spectacular freak accident where her horse slipped completely over and fell onto her young rider. Badly hurt, but not requiring an ambulance, Danielle retired.
Later in the afternoon we were treated to some brilliant riding by Australia's top equestrians.
Amanda Howell won the two star.
Megan Gale, who worked as a groom in the last Olympics, won the three star and is now on the short list for the Olympics, with her wonderful Irish sport horse.
The World Cup was won by Wendy Schaeffer which means she is also on the selection list. She won the three star last year as well!
Second in the World Cup was the super-star (as I have nicknamed him) Shane Rose, (who is rapidly becoming the media's little darling) and has overcome all types of obstacles to reach this position.
My personal favorites, two serious young men Christopher Burton and Will Enzinger performed to a fabulously high standard and were high in the placings for 3Star and World Cup but I don't know if they will be included in the short list.
They are certainly ones to watch for. I will try to keep you updated on the equine side of things cos many friends have rung me to say they are following so far and thanks for my informative comments!
The horsey bits of the Olympics by the way will not be held in Bejiing but in the horse-mad city of Hong Kong. Wouldn't you love to zip over there for that? I know I would! Let's hope the equine quarantine stuff is under control or we will all suffer that wretched horse flu all over again. See ya later!
