Rose is frisking around.
Today she cantered and cavorted around behind the children. She is also teething and has spent a lot of time examining tiny blades of grass and nibbling delicately.
This evening at dusk the three alpacas in the paddock next to the house came right up and loomed over the fence watching her. She took it all in her tiny stride and surveyed them calmly as she chewed on an old scrubbing brush.
The horses freaked the first time they say these alpacas, indeed the thorougbred (our only pure thoroughbred I might add: all the others are crosses, thank goodness) pulled away and bolted off down the road and into the bush, snorting and carrying on.
He is used to them now.
As I type Rose is skittering around the old kitchen, frolicking with the puppy, if you can imagine that. She is rather clingy at the moment, teething and suffereing separation anxiety if left alone.
So like a human baby it is amazing.
At the moment the kids have a massive bonfire going in the dark, on which they are roasting spuds.
Apparently Rose tried to run across the coals and was scooped up in time by Michael, who is terribly protective of her.
We have pony club tomorrow, which let me tell you is like a little micro-cosm of society, so great are the politics and manouverings which go on.
It is all deliciously interesting and sometimes scandalous....
