Not getting enough? Downshift to a job in a brothel
May 18th 2008 10:43
I was browsing in the library and, you know those computer-type books like "Internet for Dummies" or "Web-design for Dummies" type books?
I found one called "Work-Life Balance for Dummies" (Wiley Press: For Dummies, best selling series for beginners).
It has an interesting chapter on 'down-shifting', which I guess you all know about. People who have had enough of working hard "to pay for a four-bedroomed, two-bathroomed house", or material stuff and make a consious decision to work less, make do with less, have simpler lives.
It makes interesting reading and strikes a chord with me and maybe some of you as well?
Rushing around working hard, juggling life, kids, chores and trying to keep up with the rat race, the Joneses and the new folk down the road with their big extension and private-school-uniformed kids...
People are selling their expensive houses, shedding mortgages and living in poorer suburbs or smaller houses. Pulling their kids out of private schools and sending them to the local high. Getting rid of the second car and making do with a bike or ...public transport.
Even trying to cut back on going out, maybe some are cooking meals from scratch, re-discovering their ovens or actually buying raw products.
(OK, that last was a bit OTT but you get the picture...)
One person admits to having a veggies patch, others are keepig chickens.
But mainly they are working less, maybe changing jobs for less money but more satisfaction.
Perhaps some of those men who are not getting enough sex and are bored with their jobs should re-train for a job in a brothel?
Kill two birds with one stone....
