Amanda Howell was the best! (LINK)

The atmosphere at the Melb 3 Day Event was vibrant today with competitors mingling with spectators and judges alike and the talk all about horses horses horses.
It was bliss!
But I have to tell you dear reader that the minute I walked into the main dressage arena (indoors) I was enthralled, mesmerised, dazed at the sheer beauty of the event.
The horses. They were magnificent. Perfectly turned out, huge, muscular yet supple, athletic, yet so incredibly attentive to their riders! In they floated, huge ears pricked, big bright eyes carefully downcast, massive honed bodies curved and sculpted.
Oh man!
It was interesting though that even at this incredibly high level (we were watching the second highest level) you could still tell the difference between the good and not-so-good, or not-so-something riders.
Some moved their hands too much and upset the horses heads. Other rode stiffly and caused stiffness in their mounts until they relaxed.
The horses were adorable thought, you would have loved them, I know you would. So desperately trying to do the right thing, to please their rider, so attuned to every movement.
What a level of training and intelligence these horses have reached!
One rider, Amanda Howell, stood out in the group of riders we watched. She sat as though melded onto her horse, appeared not to move and her horse- well, he seemed in horse heaven having her as his rider, I can tell you. He kind of floated around the arena.
It was as though they were in love with each other and were away in their own world of oneness.
She made all the other riders look like a sack of potatoes, even the other famous ones.
Amanda is one to watch, but she is pretty famous herself, as well as being gorgeous, tiny and blonde. Her horses and entourage surrounding her adore her, from what we could see, and we did do a bit of spying!
Anyway, I guess this type of thing is kind of a specialized interest but I will keep updating you cos I have friends here and overseas who are interested.
Happy horsin' around!!!
