Buy your pet anything, and you can never expect them to give you anything material in return. Yet, millions of people around the globe still keep pets and treat them as an integral part of the family.
You may know someone who love their pets more than they love anyone else. And you really can't blame them. Studies show that humans tend to get more disturbed about animals in pain than about human pain, except if the victim of the abuse is a child.
The reason is that people probably see pets to be vulnerable regardless of how old they are. On the other hand, we tend to naturally think that adult humans are more capable of defending and protecting themselves.
Also, cute puppy eyes, little pinkish paws, and the endlessly entertaining mlem and boops, these are the reasons why we can't blame other people for loving pets more than they should love other humans.
