9-Year-Old Child Is "Selling" His Incredible Portraits To Help Shelter Animals

by Elana

In today's day and age it's becoming more common for children to be setting incredible examples of empathy and work ethic to do something food for animals in need. Earlier this year we delighted learning about 12-year old Darius Brown who hand-makes bows and bow ties to help get shelter pets adopted. Brown isn't the only kid on the block doing something creative and incredible for the sake of animals in need, though.

A 9-year old Russian boy named Pavel Abramov has been creating incredible works of art and exchanging them for food and supplies that he donates to a local animal shelter in the small city of Arzamas in Nizhny Novgorod. Not only are Pavel's paintings amazing to begin with, but he's doing something inspiring with his gift an it's totally selfless.

Along with his mother Ekaterina Bolshakova, Pavel has created a project called “Kind paintbrush” about a year ago.

All great ideas have inspirational origin stories, of course, and Pavel's idea is no different. When Pavel's family lost one of their own four-legged family members, he could no longer stand the thought of stray animals roaming the streets of his community.

In honor of the memory of Barsik, his family's beloved pet, he decided to be apart of positive change.

It definitely inspires the young artist to hear about the pets he paints and where they came from, because many of them were rescued from the streets. It is a consistent motivation for him.
