The coronavirus has everyone in shambles, without a doubt.
Some of us stocked up a little better than normal, as we should have.
But then there were others... Who were panic buying so much, that it was embarrassing and pathetic.
When did we become so heartless? I've seen videos of neighborhoods singing together during quarantine and America is over here like, HEY THAT'S MY TOILET PAPER. Insert eye roll here.
I'm honestly ashamed for them, these stories all make me sick to my stomach.
Compassion is important folks, not just amidst the COVID-19, but all the time.
Right now, is when it counts the most though. So if you're buying in bulk, be sure to only buy as much as you'll need.
Other people out there need to wash their hands and wipe their... too... Well, you get the idea.
Take some notes from Mr. Rogers, "Real strength has to do with helping others."
Go out there and be a good neighbor. <3
Whatever you do, don't take notes from these loonys.
Understand that your need to bulk buy isn't a need to hoard. You don't need a years supply of anything... Seriously. A two months supply is more than enough. Stores are experiencing stock-shock, but they WILL be restocked. Please, help your neighbor in need!
Oh hey, you probably, definitely, shouldn't be BRAGGING about gouging people out of necessities. Don't be a gross human.
CBS4 in Denver Colorado discovered a scalper and gouger network, and they're reselling personal hygiene products at an insane increase in price. One of these guys was selling packages of toilet paper...for 4 and 5 dollars per 4-pack on Craigslist. HOW SICKENING! Seriously, he attempting to make a 3/4x profit off of them.
“If you want more, it will be gone by tomorrow,” the man told undercover CBS4 when he met up with them. Seems he's been making quite the profit, considering he's sold around 100 rolls so far. After he realized he was being filmed, he refused to speak any further on the matter. You're not such a big shot now, are ya?!
The undercover reporters came across another man who sold bottles of hand sanitizer for for $20!! Unbelievable. He even went so far as to explain that most of his customers are worried about the coronavirus.
“I just wanted to cash in and make a few bucks,” he said. But, fortunately enough, this man realized that he was wrong in what he was doing. And even returned the money, then continued selling the products at their regular price.
In the United States, over 30 of them have laws that say it 'is illegal for people to price gouge during a state of emergency' such as where the COVID-19 has put us. Unfortunately, Colorado does not have that restriction in place. We can only hope that they'll learn from this pandemic and implement one for the future.
DAMN DRIED A$$ BEANS!
A dear friend of mine is already panicking about not having enough milk for her boys and even SHE did not buy the last gallon that was available in her small town. Have just an ounce of compassion, people!
They broke their quarantine for a school dance...
If you've heard any hoarding stories, or seen some first hand, leave them below! Share with us.
Continue on the shame!
On the real though, I hope you all stay safe out there.
